What is Home care ?
The definition of Home Care is the care of the elderly or sick in the comfort and security of their own home by professional care workers with the goal to help the patient to recover, promotes better health, maintain their current situation, or to make the patient comfortable in their last stages of life.
However, this is a one-sided view of home nursing… it supplies comfort and relief to an already sick or frail patient to recover in an environment where they feel secure. It is a relief to the family of the loved one and for some of the patients, the care worker is the only source of company and care.
When is home care needed?
Trained care workers look after people for a variety of reasons, whatever the age or ailment. Reasons include the fact that the patient are not able to take care of themselves. Illnesses or situations that care workers deal with include strokes, cancer and other terminal illnesses, AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, malnutrition and other minor ailments like wound care and bedsores. To assist a frail person with day to day tasks, to administering of medication and to live with dignity in the comfort of their own home.
How does it work?
First we do an evaluation to determine the specific need of the situation (e.g. high, medium or low-level care). A short expectation list is filled in by the patient, whereby the needs of the patient is determined and care will be given accordingly.
A care worker is made available to see to the all-encompassing care of the patient’s specific needs.
The patient’s loved ones are informed on a regular basis of the patient’s health. The patient’s needs are constantly evaluated to make sure that they get the best possible care. The normal service we issue, includes PERSONAL care, FEEDING, MEDICINE ADMINISTRATION, PHYSIO and stimulation.
We expect our care workers to always carry out their care service with LOVE, EMPATHY and COMPASSION.
